July 8, 2026: The Underground Miracle

Subways blow my mind.

Building a train is impressive enough, but constructing one that runs beneath a city seems impossible.

Massive tunnel boring machines cost millions and often stretch longer than a football field. As they inch forward, they chew through solid rock and vacuum away debris, lining the passage with concrete at the same time.

But how do you get those giant machines out once the job ends?

Often piece by piece. And sometimes, it’s cheaper to just bury the whole thing and leave it in the ground forever.

And think about this… how do you dig a subway underneath a skyscraper without making the building lean or collapse?

Engineers to the rescue. They install temporary supports and drive concrete pillars beneath the existing structure's foundation, shifting the weight away from the new tunnel.

One more fun fact. The deepest subway station in the world, in Kyiv, sits nearly 350 feet underground. The escalator ride alone takes about five minutes.

Never underestimate what people can create when imagination meets persistence. Great problem-solving begins with curiosity about what seems crazy.

So, when your biggest project feels overwhelming, just think about subways.

Maybe your task isn’t so bad after all.
