July 31, 2026: The Unusual Request

When Jake turned 9 years old, he asked for an unusual present. 

At first we thought he was joking, but nope. He meant every word.

So we threw a birthday pool party with all his friends, and when he opened the gift from his grandparents, there it was… gleaming in the sun.

A toaster.

Hello? What 9 year old asks for a toaster for their birthday? The other kids looked on in shock, but Jake had pure delight. You would think he had unwrapped the shiniest toy.

We’ve used that little appliance for over a decade and guess what arrived in the mail recently for Jake? A surprise from his grandparents… 

A brand-new toaster.
